Animation Animation is a style/convention that is a cartooned in a music video At 0:56 you can see that the artist is animated and performing the song with his band also this fits the style but it's not an ordinary music video at 4:43 there are other aliens that are coming to destroy there land but in this video it tells a story to it but the reason why the institution do this is because it's a new style and they would want a story to be involved in the animation for example this video has a story to it. The institution will use that style/convention because it's new and it will have an impact on the audience because the audience would realize that the song is telling a story and then the audience would want to watch more of the video.

A parody is an artist that imitates an original music video and it would make no change meant's to the video but at 0:18 the artist in the same location as in the original version as you can see the artist re an act the original video by by being in the same location and it's the same scenario and the reason why the institution do this because they would want to make the audience laugh and the the parody fits the style because at 2:36 it shows that the artist is in the same studio as in the original copy and it will have an impact to the audience because they would find it funny and for the institution they will probably get money but as well the artist would exaggerate some feature scenes for example it would change the lyrics.

A genre music video is stereotypical of the type of music it's promoting.The video produced by 2pac fits the style because the conventions and style of the music has black people, he is rich and he has women and everything makes it of that genre. At 0.22 the camera has a mid shot on 2pac and it shows the surrounding that he is in also he has girls with him so by the audience watching it they would know.However it has women that are wearing less clothes such as bikinis.The reason why the institution has set this style is because it would attract the audiences attention and the higher the audience figures the more money they would get and they will start to produce more music in that format. Another thing is that the music video has a mise en scene and the setting of the video is set in a mansion,automatically the audience would want to aspire to have that lifestyle. In my own music video I would try to use a variety of techniques and costumes such as the gold chains, knuckle dusters,baseball caps worn the wrong way and the majority of the time they are by a swimming pool,half naked.I would use the soundtrack but i would probably put a beat to it so then it would be my own beat instead of copying of 2pac
performance A performance in music terms means a theatrical piece in a music video before the song begins. This can involve actors and dialogue that is usually connected to the content of the music video itself.
At 0:17 the performance piece begins with the artist singing and playing the piano however it's not part of the actual music video, it only purpose is to create context for the rest of the video for example it's a party that no one is interested and his singing a not so good song but then he slams the piano down then he realizes that no one is paying attention so begins to sing the title song which implies that it is a better song. The institution created song because he wanted to appeal to the audience, because it gives the audience an impression of being fun loud, exciting. If I was to use this in my music video I would go for this sort of type because the audience will enjoy it.
Narrative Narrative is when the song has a story line to the music video for example this music video has a story that explains at each point what is happening so the audience can follow what there doing in the video at 0:25 it shows a man being the narrator but his explaining a story to these three children.When the artist is rapping his words are synchronizing with the actions at 0:36 the artist is rapping but at 0:39 it skips scenes so there the action is matching words and the audience will music video because it's entertaining and it's a new style to the music industry because a lot of artist do that similar style but with this one it's explaining a story. For the institution they chose this style because it's unique and stands out from the other videos in the rap genre. For example videos from artist such as 2pac there videos are stereotypical e.g they had cars and women inside there videos.

interpretive is the visuals that match the lyrics. the key concept of this is that the artist is trying to make the audience laugh at 0: 50 there are three men that are trying to get a women by doing a weird walk which is called the Creep and in this video it shows that they are doing everything in there power to get women but in reality the women don't like it and they find it creepy, but the audience may find this video funny but as well disturbing because the video is strange but every movements and lyric match the visuals. The institution did this because they wanted to try a new style and it's unique but as well the institution will get money but the video might not have a lot of views but as well they want to get a point a cross to the audience. I would try to use this style/convention in my music video because. in my music I would like to make the lyrics of the song match the concept because then the audience will knew what they are looking at.

For the institution they would get money because the audience will see that's it's a new style, what the institution did was that they added animation in the music video because they wanted to make music video more fun and entertaining,at 1:59 what the institution did was that there's an animation of a DJ but in reality it was a pizza so what they were trying to is combine animation with reality and they did a really good job of it.
surreal/abstract surreal/abstract is a style or convention that basically means that it's weird videos i chose this video because it was weird and different things happening at different times for example at 1:23 everybody is dressed up as weird characters, the whole video is confusing because it doesn't make sense and some of the audience may like the video or some of the audience will not like the video because it's confusing and but the the institution would want to promote this music video because it weird and not all of music is like this so they are bringing a new video to the plate by this being said is that they would get a lot of money because it would be shown on mainstream TV.The institution would probably be more consistent with this weird music videos so they will continue to make weird videos because if they don't stick to this the audience will probably be confused. another thing is that if some one was to post this on there social media there would probably be agreement or disagreements because music videos are not supposed to be weird but as well it's the style there going for so therefore they would have to be more consistent with this sort or weird videos.

pastiche/homage means that it's a copy of the original film for example Kanye West music video is referring to a Japanese anime called Akira this is exactly the same to the anime itself. The intertextual refers to the film but what this video does is that it uses clips from the anime and the video roughly has the same camera language as the anime because at 0:16 is shows that Kanye west is in the lab by himself and in the anime the character is in the lab by himself so already you know that its the same.Another thing is that Homage means what influenced the artist to copy that film or as in the case of Kanye West he decided to copy an anime. The institution will get money because Kanye west is a huge artist and by him releasing this video maybe the audience would want to watch the anime because what Kanye did was he combined the video to the anime and this can make the audience want to share it on there social media also it doesn't have bad language or bad behavior.

referencing is a style or convention that would use the same setting and the same soundtrack that would include some footage from the movie as well in this video Men In Black the song produced by Will Smith that includes the footage from the movie the institution will earn a lot of money because the intextual refers to a film. The disadvantage of this is that they would not be able to perform this live because they won't have the same set and it would not be able show the footage of the film. an advantage of this is that they would want to watch the film because this music video because it has footage from the actual movie so the audience would want to watch it to see what its about. it's like a book because with books there's a blurb and in this video it's a bit like a blurb except you can see the movie whenever you want,this is good for the institution because it's not stereotypical.

Genre subverting videos is a type of video that suggest that you should not follow the rules and it's going against the convention. I chose this song because it going against the rules.But at 1:20 the artist are in a thrift shop and they are stealing clothes and they are wearing it. At 1:26 the artist is wearing a Christmas jumper so you already know that it's going against the convention because you wouldn't picture a rapper with a Christmas jumper so definitely it would't be cool. Another thing is that the setting is not an average setting for a rapper there are normally in a house or a night club but in this video the artist is in a thrift shop and this video is not your average video. it's good for the institution because they are not being stereotypical and it's unique.

Synergy is when the artists song is played over the movie and you can see a bit of the artist an example is Men In Black and in this music video you can see the artist but as well it shows you the movie and this can benefit the record label because it could be featured in a trailer also it would show scenes from the movie and the institution will make money from the music video and the movie
and from this the audience will expand.The advantage of synergy is that from the artist being involved in the movie it would make the audience want to watch the movie but also the movie would be shown in the cinemas and the movie will include the soundtrack by that artist but the disadvantage is that not a lot of audience would not want to watch because of the movie of there choice and a positive factor is that the artist can get income and money because he was featured in the video.

The reason why artists produce music videos because they want the audience to visualize how they look like in person and it can represent the artist and it can explain how they became a music artist I've chose this video because it tells a story about how he met a girl and he would want to go on a date with this girl and it's in a dance hall and that's how they met up the institution will make a lot of money and it will represent the artist and the audience will like it because the song is classy the audience will share the video on there social media accounts and that's how you can found out about music videos the whole purpose of making music videos is because they want the audience to see how they look like in person not just listening to them.

This song is very artistic because it uses a variety of images and the images move by it self so it looks like it being drawn on the two artist and the institution will gain a lot of money from this music video because it's very artistic but the video itself is quite strange because it has two people and the drawing is automatically coming onto there bodies. Also art is good in music video because you would not just want to visualize the artist it self you would want some formality of art and by art being in the video the audience can see that it can set the mood of the artist or it would just look nice. The positive impact would be that the institution can show on television and they would get advertisement so it will mean that they will gain more income and money.

I chose Gangnam style because it was the most watch video across the world because he was an unsigned artist and by him releasing this song he had a lot of views and he made a lot of money if the video is watched an amount of time that means that the institution will earn a huge amount of money for example Psy he earned a lot of money from releasing that video and it was shown on the television around the world. Psy made the video because he wanted to produce something new and by that video he was recognized by a lot of the audience and this video did represent Psy because his new and his crazy with his video and that's what a lot of people liked and it was even on the radio.
Social media is a growing franchise that allows the audience
to share various multimedia, some popular examples of social media are Facebook, and Twitter, these website allows the public to share their
information out to the viewers. One way social media benefits the institution is
that when they put up their music video they can get comments on their music from the
public. This is an advantage for the record label because when they upload their
music video on Facebook or Twitter they don’t have to pay to put them on there but
the artist doesn't upload their music video because they’re always busy and their
main focus is releasing their new single. These social websites are more for
the artist to reach to a wider public. If the people see the good comment’s the
public will buy their single or album. They also have the advantage to share, re-post and comment which could benefit as they could reach an audience which may not be able to be reached elsewhere.
There are disadvantages from social media because the institution doesn't get paid for this. An advantage for the distributor such as Facebook, is keeping their users by having this facility.
Mainstream TV
There are a variety of channels but the main ones are BBC One, ITV 1, ITV 2, Channel 4, Channel 5 and SKY
1, majority of artists show there music video on these channels because it will
allow the audience to see it. Mainstream is an advantage because it allows them
to advertise the music video on the national bases. Another advantage of
mainstream TV is that the TV Company has to pay the artists record label and
they have to make an agreement. One possible disadvantage is that the, content
that they show can cause conflict because the video may not be suitable for
example Blurred Lines this specific song got taken down because it offended
viewers it. Other disadvantages of mainstream TV is that the music is not
available on demand like it on the internet for example you can play and replay video on sound cloud,but music on TV are on at certain times so therefor it has
a set time and day but you can see it on the internet when you want. Mainstream
TV has weakness for example you cannot socialize with people and interact with
them also there is no search engine to type in and you cannot find information
about things. Another benefit is that they might reach broader audience who may have not known about the single, video or artist.

The reason why music artist get their website created is
because it’s an efficient way to interact with their fans also it will be their
own style ,and it will be unique. Another thing is that the artist can give information about
when there new single/album coming out and you can buy their content. The fans
can communicate with the artist via posting blogs or commenting on their album.
The website doesn't have an age rate but it would normally be aimed for teenagers or
adults because that’s what the general public like so the website will have a
fan base section.
The website would have a search engine so it would be a
quicker way for the public to find information about the artist. Products will
be made so it will be sold to the public also it has a Facebook so the public
can instantly go and view that music artist on their Facebook the artist and it’s team will have an
investment from making the website and they will earn money because people will

The disadvantages is that the website is only aimed at a specific
group (music) and the way the webpage is laid out or the color maybe to bright

downloaded in two different format one is called legal downloading and the
other is called illegal downloading. Legal downloading is when you can download
music of from Spotify but you have to pay for these music but the organisation
gives the audience a nice HD and clean sound and Spotify is 100% reliable also Spotify is safe. There is some bad things about legally downloading music the
first one is that there is one website that is 100% reliable and that website
called Spotify, also when you make a purchase on Spotify the artist get money out
of the audience buying there song and album.
Illegal downloading is bad because a lot of public work for
the music industry and these audience work hard to push music forward however
it’s not free because it the artist that lists it and the audience buy it, but the public steal the music for free because they say that it’s easy to download
without a cost but as well it’s an criminal offence to steal an artist music
without permission also you the consumer is putting yourself in danger. Those
who steal the music and upload it onto the website and the audience come and
steal it the person who uploaded it in the first place are harming the music
industry and you don’t have an outcome of how they got that music and how they
uploaded but with Spotify it’s safe, you have to pay and it doesn't leave
viruses on any device. An advantage of this can be that it could be beneficial to the institution and distributer. A disadvantage is that it can reduce sales from people buying CD’s when they can just download it for free on the internet
Music Channels A music channel is a channel that only plays a specific genre and it allows the audience to watch there favorite music video but for that to happen the institution has to make an agreement to show it live to the public also the institution , will make money from the music video being shown on a music channel. Advantages from this that is's easy to keep up to date up because they show it continuously and you can view the content for free and you don't have to download anything also you can rewind and pause it for free, an disadvantage is that majority of the audience might not have the music channel however the song you like might not be shown on the TV it's up to the TV to decide however.The institution will get paid because they will show the video on TV and the music video will reach a wider audience and they will have to censor the bad language and they would be a lot of adverts that will be shown on the TV and the songs don't last for a long time.

An example of a streaming website would be YouTube or BBC iPlayer these website allow you to watch music videos and it streams the video in different quality's, an example is that it can be a low quality, medium quality and a high quality, you can view these music videos on your mobile phone,what YouTube does is that it allows you to upload a content by individuals also you can share it with the audience however for the audience the advantage of YouTube is that there are different types of categories this makes the audience aware that they can go to any section they want but if a music fan want to watch a music video and the video has bad language the viewer would not be able to watch it because they would need to 18 to view the video or it would be taken down an example would be Blurred lines this music video got taken down of YouTube because it used bad language and the video did not suggest good behavior, For the institution YouTube is good because for an unsigned artist can get recognized by his/her talent and the institution can make money from them but an example would be Justin Bieber when the song Boyfriend was released the video went viral and he made $8 million views of the video under 24 hours and Justin Bieber gained more than 17 million streams from under a week according to MTV. A disadvantage is that a video can get taken down or it could be censored and maybe the video can obtain violence in the music video another thing is that the video may have legal or copyright issues. Another example would be gangnam style because he released a music video of his new song and instantly he got a lot of views and for the institution they have gained a lot of money because a lot of people have watched his videos and he got paid a lot.

Artist release CD and DVD because they want there fans to keep there album and also it's tangible and it's easy to find on the other hand there is an advantage because you can see the artists music video in depth and how they became successful also you can get special features on the DVD such as backstage. it's a montage of songs that they have combined to put into one CD or DVD that shows all there music videos but the disadvantage for the audience is that they could require a CD player so they can see the video or a DVD player and if there's a scratch on the CD or DVD you can't get a refund because it will be in the audiences care. How ever for the institution it would be expensive to manufacture the CD but they will make a lot of profit but if you were to download it on the internet it will cost less. But the disadvantage for the institution will be that a lot of audience will prefer to download it digital instead of physically going to a shop to buy the CD or DVD.
