Good and Bad Music video techniques

large number of cuts

good

 I chose this video because it has a lot of cuts and it uses special effects for example at 0:47 it has a lot of cuts and it has a lot of special effects and they have used the cuts successfully but what the artist does is that he uses a large number of cuts but as well he uses graphics and special effect this connotes because his trying to make the song interesting. It has an impact on the viewer because it's an enjoyable video to watch because the artist has used a different variety of technique so it makes the video exciting to watch it has represents the artist because if you watch majority of his videos his videos use a lot of different techniques because he wants the audience to want to enjoy his videos.






Bad

In this video they do use a large number of cuts but they make it up for it by moving in various different places at 0:45 they don't use cuts but as well you can tell that it represents the artist because the artist produces music videos in that genre but it does have an impact on the audience because the video is funny because they are wearing costumes but they haven't used the technique successfully another thing is that the video is enjoyable to watch what the institution wanted to achieve was to make the video funny and this song is about people being lazy. In the video above the artist uses a lot of different techniques but in this one they stick to one technique.






special effects

In this video it uses a variety of effects and it adds the video in more depth also in this video it's successful because the artist is singing and the effects are going around him so it made the video more interesting. this video doesn't use graphics but at 0:09 it has the artist and they used effects where it looks like his on fire but at 1:40 they used a shadow effect and a blur effect so it would be a good video I chose this video because it's a good example for special effects.This connotes the artist because he used the effects effectively. It would have an impact on the audience because the video would be enjoyable to watch it will make an impact of the artist because his showing the audience what his all about and by him using special effects the audience will have an impression of that the artist can make the video more enjoyable to watch so therefor they would want to watch more of his videos .

bad 

In this video there is special effects but through out all the video it's just the same special effects but in different music videos they try to use the special effects in different ways. This video is old so therefore you can tell because at that time they didn't have a lot of idea of special effects at  0:12 of the music video to the very end the effects have been used in one format and it hasn't changed but from the audience watching this video they will have a negative view of the video and they will be bored instantly because there is no action and excitement to the video but in the video above it has an impact because there have used different effects and in both of these videos I think that they have a message behind the song but the video above is enjoyable but this video is enjoyable to watch because its the same effect the whole way through. 

cutting to the beat

good

I chose this video because it cuts to the beat really well for example at 1:18 the robot is matching to the beat and it makes it interesting because the lyrics are matching the beat but as well when you watch this video this video it would have an impact because its a good video and it connotes that the artist is creative and they use this cutting to the beat style because they want the audience to be entertained by what there watching it. In this video they use the technique successfully because they made it entertaining but as well the video  doesn't have negative attitude to it, therefore it would make the audience want to watch it also the institution used this technique because it's a new style and they wanted to make the video exciting. This song has an impact on the audience because when you watch this video you get a lot of excitement and it's good video to watch 




bad

I chose this song because it uses the technique well but it doesn't cut to the beat well for example at 0:23 it doesn't match the beat but the video is enjoyable to watch. What the artist wanted to achieve was to have a love and relationship feel to the song and he did it successfully also the video is entertaining to watch but there are some parts of the video were are not successful at 1:37 the action doesn't match the beat but if you compare these video together the the video above is successful because the it cuts to the beat well but in this song it cut to the beat sometime but majority of the time it doesn't 

varied camera language 

good

This video is good because of the different camera language and movement. I chose this music video because at 0:45 it has a pan to left to right and the camera is tracking the artist and the institution used  this technique successfully because at 1:50 they use another angle and this time it's a high angle and in this video it has a variety of angles and movement it also have an impact on the audience because it make the song more enjoyable because of the different camera language also it keeps the audience engaged with the video the institution went with this technique because to make the video more fun and enjoyable to watch and another thing is that it can represent the artist but in this video it has a message behind the video saying just have fun but be careful about your friends .





bad 

I chose video because it has a few camera language but at 0:49 it has the artist singing but there isn't a lot of action going on in the video     but it has an impact because it does use some camera language but majority of the time it's mid-shots and they haven't used the technique effectively  again at 0:54  more mid-shots in the video what the institution wanted to achieve was to make the video sad so that's why they used mid-shot so you can experience what there experiencing. Also they made the song in slow motion because it's supposed to be a sad song  it has a impact on the audience but it's not enjoyable to watch also it can represent the artist. For both of the video they use the technique good but the video above uses it well because has different type of angles and movements                                                                                                                                            

green screen

Good

 green screen is when the artist is stood on the green screen but when you edit it you can effects to the green screen. At 1:23 the artist uses the green screen effectively because you won't even notice that it's green screen but they use the technique successfully. This video will have an impact on the audience because the video is enjoyable and it's entertaining and they won't even notice that they have included green screen. it represents the artist because the artist is an artist that likes creating videos that have excitement to it. They used this effect because they wanted the audience to enjoy this music video.

bad 

 I chose this video because it uses the green screen not effectively because you can tell that they have used green screen for example at 0:27 the green screen has been used bad because the audience would instantly know that they have used green screen therefor the technique has been used unsuccessful because through out the video they use green screen but maybe the artist wanted to make it seem like they were there or maybe they wanted to make it funny. In the music video above they use the green screen well and you won't even notice that they have used it but in this video you can obviously tell that they used green screen.

Lip-synching

good

I chose this music video because it uses the technique successfully at 1:05 the music video has audience that are lip syncing to the actual song and the audience lip sync really well you might thing that its them that are singing but it's not them also it represents the artist because his making the video entertaining by using the audience to be featured in his music video as well there is a message behind the video and this message say that you should just be happy and enjoy life it has an impact on the viewer because it's an enjoyable video to watch.





bad

This music video has unsuccessful techniques such as the bad lip syncing at 0:42 it has bad lip syncing because the artists mouth is not in rhythm with the actual lyrics also it's not an enjoyable video to watch because there isn't a lot of action in the video and it's not entertaining but this can denote the artist because they can gain experience from this video but if you compare both videos the video above uses this technique well by using the audience because he had lip syncing in the video but in this video the artist doesn't use it well because it's an old video.
